Mini Kickers: How the Class Works

The Mini Kickers program is designed as an introduction to basic soccer skills for 2 and 3 year-old boys and girls who wish to participate in a 4-class session filled with movement, jumping, running, juggling, shooting, dribbling, and passing soccer balls, with parent participation. Unique tools and lesson plans ensure that the children are introduced to the basics of soccer in a creative and fun-filled environment. Mini Kickers sets a very basic foundation for playing the sport of soccer alongside their parents. Here's how the class is structured:

Station Rotations: Alongside your Mini Kicker, you’ll move through stations where coaches will introduce skills like dribbling, passing, and shooting.

Coach-Led Demonstrations: Coaches will demonstrate each skill and provide guidance for parents and players as they practice.

Parent Participation: Parents are encouraged to actively participate by working with their Minis on drills and providing positive reinforcement.

Fun and Games: The session incorporates games to make learning fun, interactive, and engaging for your Mini.

This is a beginner-friendly class focusing on skill-building and fostering a love for soccer. It’s completely normal for children to lose focus, run off, or prefer to play games like chase during their first few sessions. Weekly repetition and encouragement will help them gradually pick up skills.

Things to Remember

Uniforms: Minis are not provided uniforms but are encouraged to wear comfortable athletic attire.

Footwear: For indoor fields, cleats are not permitted as they can damage the turf. Please have your Little wear regular tennis shoes. For outdoor fields, either cleats or regular tennis shoes are acceptable.

Hydration: Bring a water bottle to keep your Mini refreshed during breaks.

Patience is Key: Every child learns at their own pace, so have fun and enjoy the experience with your Mini!

Little Kickers: How the Class Works

Our Little Kickers class is designed specifically for 4- and 5-year-olds, providing a fun and supportive environment where young players can develop foundational soccer skills. Classes are structured as clinic-style training sessions, where players rotate through various stations under the guidance of their coach. Each station focuses on a specific drill, such as passing, dribbling, or shooting, to ensure a well-rounded introduction to the sport.

We understand that every player progresses at their own pace. Some Littles may be returning participants who have honed their skills, while others are just starting. Through consistent practice and weeks of repetition, all Littles have the potential to advance in their abilities.

Additional opportunities may arise:

Recreational League: If a player becomes comfortable with the ball and demonstrates an understanding of the sport's fundamentals, we may recommend registering for our spring, fall, or winter recreational league.

Pre-Academy Program: Exceptional players with advanced skills may be invited to an ID session for our pre-academy program. This transitional program prepares players for the Rush competitive league.

Participation in these next-level opportunities is entirely optional. We understand that many families enroll their Little Kickers primarily for a fun and leisure-based experience, and we fully support that goal.

Things to Remember

Uniforms: All Little Kickers are required to wear uniforms to class. Uniforms can be purchased during registration and will be handed out on the first day of class. This is a one-time purchase and can be used for the remainder of your child’s Junior Kickers experience.

Footwear: For indoor fields, cleats are not permitted as they can damage the turf. Please have your Little wear regular tennis shoes. For outdoor fields, either cleats or regular tennis shoes are acceptable.

Shin Guards: We encourage players to wear shin guards for scrimmages to ensure safety and comfort.

Hydration: Bring a water bottle. There will be water breaks during station rotations.

Bathroom Breaks: If possible, ensure your child uses the restroom right before class starts to avoid interruptions.
